Waiting in the wings

 Hi!

A few figures to add into the mix.

The Not quite Humans

An old GW figure from the front cover of White Dwarf

A thousand years into the future Microsoft still hasn't fixed it!

Even 5 Parsecs from home you get the Blue Screen of Death!

An unallocated human.

The Mysterious Other

Hi!

Who does she work for? If anybody. Is she the leader of the Exotics? We might never know. But we'll keep an eye on her either way.

This is the Salute 2019 free figure. I've finally found a use for it. I never thought I would ever use it and then along comes 5 Parsecs. It's a lesson learned far to late, never sell or give away figures you think you will never use. And all those free sprues from wargames magazines I sent to my younger brother, along with the early Epic 40K knights of which I could use for this.

Landing pad

 Hi!

Just thought I'd share this landing pad for 5pfH.

It's a d.i.y landing pad. I chose to do it flat as ships need to be loaded & unloaded. One, which you often see in blogs, elevated with steps down to ground level would not be practical unless they had ramps or means to lift goods & supplies up to them.

It is actually a cake base! Added markings by me obviously.

It will do the job when need.

It's here!

 Hi!

THE book has arrived. I had been using the pdf kindly provided whilst waiting for the rule book to arrive. Now it is here.

Whilst I'm making strides with the figures and terrain I'm not looking to post an AAR until December though it might be sooner. I'll be off to the states soon and will be taking all these, the Frostgrave and Sell Swords and Spell Slingers things with me. As many as I can anyway.

I actually have a couple of posts ready to go, just waiting a few days between each rather than posting all at once or in one huge posting..

Thanks' for dropping by.

The Exotics

Just the type of outfit to give a crew some nightmares. I hope.

They started in the habs as a gang of juves named The 9th District Vipers. But they are known by everybody as The Exotics. It's easy to see why. But they are still as deadly as the vipers after which they are named.

When young females are invited to join it's an honour very few refuse. It means they've made it.

Yes. It's the Escher Gang from Necromunda with head swaps from NorthStar's Stargrave Female Crew members. There's exotic and exotic. I like the more dynamic poses that GW does for their figures. The Northstar poses are relatively static in comparison.  My favourite, obviously, is the central figure. But what a lot of bits and pieces to paint. I actually got a bit fed up painting them they had so many things on each to paint.

The very good news is that they were only £15 for 10 figures including postage.

One thing. My efforts to paint plastic figures still lags well behind any quality I have when painting metal figures. I usually use the Corax white undercoat and am wondering if this is the problem. I'm going to try painting each figure separately and not as a batch to see if I can improve when I paint the other 5.

Forming a crew

The Galactic Iceberg is an old colony ship. Serviceable, solid and dependable but not too fast. I put the down payment on it as you never know when you might need a quick exit from a situation. And having your own ship gives you better options to evade prying eyes if you need to.

I'd come to Verulamium in the Ebaracum Galaxy as a troubleshooter for vested interests, and was now an outlaw. The trouble was not the workers on this mining planet but the bosses and planetary authorities. Things went bad and the blame is pinned on me.

And we find ourselves in District 9. A district where people like us can move relatively freely.

My crew are all outlaws for one reason or another and we met in bars and places where people like us can relax a little.

The pilot is Brax, we don't use our real names anymore because that's dangerous. And we are, after all, wanted. A former starship crew member who is wanted for smuggling  I took him onboard when I first put money down to buy the ship.  He is very religious.

Good with machinery as well as a good pilot

Then there's Wolf, an ex-bounty hunter who wants to be famous. He was marked by his target, he thinks he was betrayed.

Flash Hari is a Feral. A trader who was trading with the 'wrong people' so the authorities said. Well, that would be outlaws. Hari just wants to see order in the galaxies and a profit for himself.

He brought along a worker Bot who we named Botticelli. He likes pounding to the beat!

Cromwell. The ex-soldier who came through for us against his former employer. He was blamed for leaking operational details of planned raids on the striking mine settlements and lit out pdq. He didn't like blatant lying and cover-ups that were happening.

And there's me, The Captain. Or, if you prefer, Cap. An ex-troubleshooter with a desire for technology, especially hard to get technology.

We aim to make a living and help the downtrodden where we can.

Our name?

Confidential Services Inc. CSI for short.

These are the Northstar Crew figures with one female crew member from the female crew box. One Games Workshop Skink and the bot from Imitation of Life on etsy.uk

Pipes and things.

 Hi!

I went looking for some paints in my FLGS and came away with some cheap terrain. You can't pass up a bargain.

They were GW plasma conduits and the Warzone Octarius Ork pumping station with tanks. I also got a sprue of the Necron machinery from Kill Team Pariah Nexus. All the sprues were around £6-£10 each so I think it worth the money at those prices.

I had to look up how things went together on the Ork piece (just by looking for images of it) as it came without instructions.
